So, for all of you who voted on my blog for either me serving a mission or working...I want to hear your reasoning behind the way you voted. Just curious.
i voted work b/c you were a little disappointed/surprised when at first everyone voted mission...i thought i'd humor you! :) i know that doesn't help you at all though, sorry!
i just know you will be a great sister missionary. AND you have really been keeping a mission in mind since when i first met you (over three years ago!) i think you would love it so much and it would be a great learning experience for you! :) oh and ps...i want a new missionary to write hahahahhaa...
i just think that a mission is a really good thing! work is too, but you won't get nearly as much out of work as you would a mission. and when you get back from the mission you'd still be way young too work!
You know Shauna, I just voted what cam into my head first. As I've thought about it, I really think you would have the ability to share the Gospel in a way that so many would be responsive. You may get to learn a new language and culture. Even in the USA you would learn a new culture (unless you were assigned to Rexburg! ugh.........)so those are some benefits. You could also share the gospel thru your work. One of the older prophets (it may have been Joseph Fielding Smith....not sure....or Brigham Young.....)said something along the lines of this in the matters of getting answers to your questions from the Lord....paraphrasing......."If you are doing everything you are supposed to: praying, fasting, paying tithing, living the gospel the best you can, searching the scriptures, etc. and you go to the Lord for an answer to your questions and you don't get one, He is bound to make your decision the right one. He will make it the right one." Loves..........
Mark didn't vote (I don't think at least...) but we were talking about it and he asked something along the lines of what does she (you) want to focus on developing right now, her spiritual side and personal development, or career and personal development. I've kind of been thinking that if you are offered one of those 3 month internships in NYC why not just do it and maybe an answer will come clearer to you that either yes, you want to continue working right now or maybe you'll feel like this was great but I should be going on a mission now...kinda like Kenny standing in center field on BYU's baseball team when he decided he needed to go...talk to him if you don't know the story. Such a difficult decision when you have such great and options. Good, Better, and Best...we're praying for you!
Wow!! Great advice from everyone. I think you are doing all the right things to ensure you are making the best choice. Read your Patriarchal blessing, pray, fast, attend the temple...your answer will come. In fact...I think deep down you may know already. Call dad and ask him his first impressions after reading your blessing last night. Loves-mom
PS I love what Suzanne quoted...that the Lord will make your decision the right one if you are doing your part. I don't think you can go wrong. There is probably room for it all if that is what you want. Loves...
You are doing all the right things to get your answer. It will come. Call dad and ask him his first impressions after he read your patriarchal blessing. It will be of interest to you. Know that you only have choices between good things. Like Suzanne quoted--The Lord will make it right if you've done all you can. I think you are someone He will make it right for. Know that we are praying for you and your process of decision making. Loves....
